Welcome to Bixby Animal Clinic

If you live in Long Beach, CA, and have a pet that needs veterinary care, you can bring them to our team at Bixby Animal Clinic. Our veterinary team at our animal hospital is here to help your pet get and stay healthy.

Welcome to Bixby Animal Clinic

Our Services

We're glad to offer a wide range of services at our animal clinic. Here are some of the services we offer:

Wellness Checks

Think of this as being like a yearly physical for your pet. We may check everything from their weight, to their teeth, to their blood work. As they get older and enter their senior years, we might want to see them twice a year to monitor their health more closely.

Urgent Care

Bixby Animal Clinic offers same-day walk-ins and urgent care. We're here for any pet emergencies and the in-between moments when it's not quite an emergency and you can't afford to wait for a regular veterinarian appointment. Urgent care is offered Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. In order to better serve you and your pet in an efficient manner, we take our cases based on the severity of the pet's health and the availability of the doctor's schedule.

For immediate urgent care services for your furry friend, contact Bixby Animal Clinic in Long Beach at (562) 426-4066.

Vaccinations

This is another important part of keeping your pet healthy. Vaccinations can help avoid costly treatments for preventable diseases. Up to date vaccinations protect your pet year round from life-threatening diseases such as rabies and distemper. Vaccinations also prevent the spread of some diseases that can be passed between animals and humans, which is why it’s recommended to also vaccinate indoor pets.

Dental Care

Our team will closely monitor and clean your pet's teeth and gums to keep them healthy and looking great. Most dogs and cats without regular dental care have some form of dental or gum disease by the time they are three years old. Gum disease can result in more than just lost teeth. It can cause worsening dental disease, oral pain, and in severe cases, organ damage from the bacteria in tartar spreading into the bloodstream. Our team can assess your pet’s level of dental health and provide your fur baby with a deep dental cleaning to ensure your pet’s teeth are tartar free above and below the gumline.

Parasite Prevention

Fleas and ticks can carry harmful diseases and can diminish your pet’s quality of life. We can help keep these dangerous pests away by using different types of preventative care.

Spaying and Neutering

Spaying and neutering your pet may be one of the most important choices you make that affects their long term health. When you spay your female pet, you are lessening their chance of developing pyometra (a potentially fatal uterine infection), uterine, mammary, and other cancers of the reproductive system. When you neuter your male pet, you are lessening their risk of testicular cancer and prostatic hyperplasia, which can affect the ability to defecate.

Secondary benefits to spaying/neutering your pet are you also prevent many unwanted behaviors, including aggressive behavior, excessive barking, excessive yowling/vocalizing, mounting activity, roaming, and urinating around the house. Typically, the longer one waits, the less effective surgery will be in preventing behavioral issues, as the pet may have already reinforced the bad habit. Talk to your veterinarian to determine the best time to spay/neuter your pet.

  • I took my dog in after getting attacked by a couple of dogs. They took me right away and explained all the facts to me rather than trying to give me all this other information. They didn't try to rip me off their prices are very good. Stephanie was the one who came out to get the dog and explain the bill. I'm very thankful for everyone! Thank you :)

The dr’s always explain the suggestions for treatment and the costs to each service. They also help me to decide which services are the most important and which ones that can be elective. If I could give Bixby Animal Clinic 1 million stars I would do so in a heartbeat. I dropped my diabetic dog’s insulin vial while cleaning out the fridge today (Sunday 7/3, right before the holiday) and after calling more than 6 clinics that are open on Sundays, none of them were able to squeeze my poor boy Chester in so that he could get a checkup and I could purchase more insulin for him. He would’ve had to wait until Tuesday 7/5 when my regular vet’s office opens again - had it not been for Bixby Animal Clinic, I honestly don’t think my baby would have made it thru the holiday weekend. Genesis pretty much talked me off a ledge over the phone when I explained the emergency, and when she told me they were able to see my boy the same day, I cried tears of joy…and crying them again writing this review lol. We were greeted with the most friendliest staff and service I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Dana Currier examined my boy and was the greatest! Everyone from Dr. Currier to Genesis, Allyson who came out to take Chester’s info down and took him in, Camille who brought my boy out, the Dr’s assistant I’m so sorry I forgot to ask for her name again but she was very sweet as well — and to any other staff member that might’ve helped my baby Chester out today….a million billion times over and over again, God bless you all and THANK YOU!!! I am forever grateful for this clinic and your amazing staff. You saved my dog’s life🙏🏽 If I could give Bixby Animal Clinic 1 million stars I would do so in a heartbeat. What can I say… Great place with caring professionals. One of our dogs seemed really sick for two days, and we called at 6pm to have her checked out. Turned out she had internal infection and required surgery as soon as possible. We decided to do it first thing the following morning, since we didn’t want to deal with emergency hospitals and end up waiting till the morning anyway. The doctor was really concerned about her lab results from the night before, and told us there is a huge chance she wouldn’t make it. We decided to do it anyway, and glad we did! We got a call from the doctor a few hours later telling us the good news. A few weeks later at routine check, they still remember Emma and her amazing recovery. People followed up with us constantly throughout those few days before and after the surgery. Price was provided upfront and at the end it was actually less than estimate. We had our other dog neutered too, and everything was flawless as well. We end up paying less than estimated too. What can I say… Great place with caring professionals.
